Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-40)
The Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-40) is one of the most widely used self-report measures of narcissistic personality traits in non-clinical populations. The assessment measures traits associated with grandiosity, entitlement, authority, superiority, self-admiration, and interpersonal dominance. The NPI-40 is based on a dimensional understanding of narcissistic traits rather than a clinical diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Many individuals may display certain narcissistic characteristics without meeting the criteria for a personality disorder. The assessment is frequently used in psychological research, personality studies, and self-reflection contexts to explore patterns of confidence, leadership, self-image, social influence, and attention-seeking behavior.
Read each pair of statements carefully and select the statement that best describes you. There are no right or wrong answers. Choose the option that feels most accurate to your personality and typical behavior.
This assessment is intended for educational and self-reflection purposes only and does not provide a clinical diagnosis. Results should be interpreted within the broader context of personality and behavior.
Each narcissistic response receives 1 point and non-narcissistic responses receive 0 points. Higher scores may indicate stronger narcissistic personality traits. This assessment is designed for personality exploration and research use.
